As a United States Marine, served as Chief Coxswain and Chief Mechanic for Special Operations Company FOX 2/5 for three years, supervising 20 plus Marines. Coordinated all on-water operations, and assured readiness of coxswains, boats, engines and all equipment. Extensive training in boat handling and formations, maritime navigation, search and rescue, safety boat operations and boat operations in high seas during night operations. Responsible for all engine repair operations on Johnson & Evenrude engines on land and at sea. Honorable Discharge. Recipient of Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
Military, Manufacture, and Dealer Certified Marine Technician with 12 unbroken years of service. Over 20,000 hours of hands on training while working at some of the most well known and respected High Performance, Sport Boat, Sport Fish, and Yacht dealers in the industry to include but not limited to, Formula, Sea Ray, Donzi, Boston Whaler, Doral, Rinker, Chaparral, Hinckley, Supra, and Tigie.
Marine Technician experience includes everything from pre-trade in inspections, to warranty work. Complete mechanical inspections on all makes and models of engines, transmissions, power heads, stern drives, and gear cases. Rigging of new boats from 16 feet, to 60 plus feet. Removal, repair, inspection, and installation of engines, transmissions, generators, AC/Heat units, galley equipment, windlass, head and holding tank components, electronics and radar systems, and all other accessories that are found on vessels of these different sizes. A boat has many different systems that are all unique in there own way. Complete knowledge of these systems is very important for a marine surveyor to posses.
At the Chapman School of Seamanship Survey Course I received 180 hours in theory and field experience in Hull Design & Construction, Support Systems, Propulsion & Auxiliary Systems and Business, Professional & Legal Considerations. This course has been rated as the best Marine Survey course in the country.
